Description
An ancient Olmec mask from Pre Columbian America made of black hardstone. This is a male face with big drilled eyes and full lips. There are through holes and blind holes on the face and ear area. Such round holes were very characteristic of the Olmec civilization. Through holes in the earlobes could be used for hanging earrings and other jewelry. The Olmecs flourished during Mesoamericas formative period, dating roughly from as early as 1500 BCE to about 400 BCE.
