Description

A limited edition screen print on paper, Pumpkin, after the original painting by Yayoi Kusama, Japanese, American, born 1929. The artwork depicts a yellow and black pumpkin in a polka dot pattern against an abstract background. Inscribed in pencil, lower right. Dated 1992 in pencil, lower to the center. Numbered 50 of 150 in pencil, lower left. Framed. Completed with a certificate of authenticity. Pumpkins are an iconic symbol for Kusamas work, which she often uses in both painting and sculpture. Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese contemporary artist who works primarily in sculpture and installation but is also active in painting, performance, video art, fashion, poetry, fiction, and other arts. Her work is based in conceptual art and shows some attributes of feminism, minimalism, surrealism, Art Brut, pop art, and abstract expressionism, and is infused with autobiographical, psychological, and sexual content.
