Mikhail Gavrielovitch Belski, Ukrainian, Soviet era, 1922 to 1994, an oil painting on canvas, Female Soldiers, 1972. This painting was created in 1972 for the Republican Art Exhibition commemorating the 27th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany. The composition portrays two female military personnel within the confines of a field dwelling. The scene explores the psychological tension between the senior and the newcomer, subtly alluding to interpersonal conflict and emotional strain under wartime conditions. This work occupies a unique place in Mikhail Belskys oeuvre: unlike his typical focus on industrial themes, it belongs to the rare genre of wartime portraiture. The presence of three authorial signatures and familial confirmation underscores the paintings personal and artistic significance to the artist. Completed with a certificate of authenticity, signed and dated August 25, 2025. Provenance: 1972 painted by Mikhail Belsky for an exhibition commemorating the 27th anniversary of Victory. Authenticity and importance confirmed by Olesia Avramenko, art historian and daughter in law of the artist, letter dated 25 August 2025, Kyiv, Ukraine.
