Chromo lithograph after the original painting by Cornelius David Krieghoff (Canadian, 1812/15-1872). Depicting a portrait of a republican man in a red cap holding a glass. Signed lower right. Framed. Cornelius Krieghoff is known for the Frontier genre, animal, and landscape painting. He was a Dutch Canadian painter of the 19th century. Krieghoff is most famous for his paintings of Canadian landscapes and Canadian life outdoors, which were as sought after in his own time as they are today. He is particularly famous for his winter scenes, some of which he painted in a number of variants. One of a kind artwork.
