She studied in Paris under the figurative painter Hugues Merle, 1823 to 1881, the well-known salon painter Jules Joseph Lefebvre, 1836 to 1911, and finally under William-Adolphe Bouguereau, 1825 to 1905. George Barrie, from 1893 to 1895 was the Philadelphia printer and publisher, and worked upon a large and lavish series of original etchings and chromolithographs detailing exhibits of the fine art from participating countries at the Worlds Columbian Exposition.
