Vasili Ivanovich Shukhaev was a Russian and French artist, known for Painting, graphics and theatre art. Vasili Shukhaev lived in Paris, where he opened his own school of painting and drawing, and also worked in the art school of T. L. Sukhotina Tolstoy, Russian Academy. In Paris, he created many portraits, and designed the performances of the theater of N. F. Baliev, the troupe of I. L. Rubinshtein; painted still lifes, genre paintings, landscapes. From the 1920s he illustrated books. In 1932 he made a trip to Morocco. The sketches brought from there served as material for the creation of a whole series of works. In 1935 he returned to his homeland. He worked in the theater and monumental art, taught. One of a kind artwork.
