An antique late Meiji period pair of cast white metal alloy figural bookends modeled as a Japanese peasant wearing a Kimono and seated in front of a basket. The surface is covered with a nice dark patina. Both bookends are raised on natural polished green onyx rectangular bases. Dated from the late 19th to the early 20th century.
