Description

An antique late 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. The icon depicts the Adoration of the Magi, a scene from the Nativity of Christ where the three Magi, having found Jesus by following a star, lay before him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and worship him. Inscription Birth of Jesus in Church Slavonic is on the bottom. Gilt ornamental rims. Antique Russian Religious Items and Collectibles.

Size 10 1/4 x 12 1/4 in. All measurements are approximate.

Condition
Overall good vintage condition. Signs of age and wear. Some swelling of the paint layer, craquelure, small cracks. Refer to photos. Sold As Is.
