John Douglas Michie, British, c. 1864 to 1892, an antique 19th century oil on board Romantic genre painting depicting a young couple. Signed by the artist and dated 1878 lower left. Housed in a richly decorated gilt wood frame. John Douglas Michie was an Edinburgh artist who exhibited and sold paintings for most of his adult life. Sometimes his figures were part of a scene inspired by Walter Scott, James Hogg or other writers. One of a kind artwork. Antique Fine Art For Collectors.
