Description
An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon of Paraskeva Friday. Oil on wood board. The saint is depicted holding the cross and scroll with the initial words of the Creed, with Saint John on the left. The characters are named in Church Slavonic underneath. The background is richly gilt and decorated with embossed accents. There are handwritten inscriptions Paraskeva on the backside. Paraskeva Friday is a character from the Orthodox Slavic folk tradition, a personification of Friday as a day of the week. Russian Religious Items and Antique Collectables.
