Description
A Russian Orthodox travel icon of Saint Maria, Holy Mary the Martyr. A mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wooden board. The icon is overlaid with a gilt Silver oklad or riza, adorned with repousse scrollwork, foliage, and floral decor patterns, and covered with enamel in cobalt blue and green shades. Inscribed upper right and left. Marked with an 84 standard Silver hallmark, and other Cyrillic and Assay marks. Russian Orthodox Religious Items and Collectibles.
