A pair of antique Tekke Turkmen hand-crafted cuff armlets, known as bileziks, each decorated with four rows of table-cut semi-precious carnelians. The bracelets are gilt washed and decorated with hand engraved motifs. Pieces of carnelian, a bright red colored stone, are popular because they are believed to protect the wearers from illness and death. Circa the 19th century.
