An antique Russian Orthodox icon of Holy John The Forerunner, hand painted with egg tempera on a levkas wooden board Central Russia, circa the late 18th or early 19th century. The icon is finely executed in bright colors on gold ground. John the Baptist is depicted frontally, in his left hand the saint holds a cup with the infant Christ, and with his right hand he points to the Child.
