Oil on canvas painting. Russian, late 18th century. After a 1779 painting by Fyodor Rokotov, 1736 to 1808, a Russian portrait artist of the classical era. The artwork depicts Catherine II, known as Catherine the Great, 1729 to 1796, empress of Russia. Oval format. The original artwork is now in the collection of the State Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg. Shapiro auction house label on the backside.
