A pair of antique Japanese Satsuma pottery vases. Late Meiji era, before 1912. Globular shaped vases with long necks. The pieces are richly decorated with hand painted traditional Japanese ornaments, gilding, and depictions of a genre scene with Royal court men. Unmarked. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
