Miniature icon painting on enamel plaque. Latin American, 19th century. The piece represents Saint Rosa of Lima, 1586 to 1617, a Catholic saint, member of the Dominican order in Lima, Peru. Saint Rosa is venerated is the patronness of embroiderers, gardeners, and of Latin America in general. The plaque is set in a gilt pierced standing frame shaped as an altarpiece.
