Original hardcover with gilding and metal bas-relief overlay portrait of the author on the front covers. Marbled block edges. Leo Tolstoy, 1828 to 1910, was a prominent Russian writer, author of War and Peace. Pavel Biryukov, 1860 to 1931, was a Russian publicist, major biographer and close friend of Leo Tolstoy.
