A large antique Russian Orthodox icon of John The Apostle. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Titled in Church Slavonic, upper to the center. John the Apostle, also known as Saint John the Beloved and in Eastern Orthodox Christianity, Saint John the Theologian was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus according to the New Testament.
