An antique French bronze figurine of Hunting Dog by Jules Moigniez. An English setter is depicted who has just noticed a frightened rabbit nearby under the leaves. Circa 1870. On the base of the sculpture at the bottom right is the signature of J. Moigniez. Jules Moigniez, 1835 to 1894, French animal sculptor. Was known for the fine detail and chiseling of his sculptures. His bronzes, usually cast using the lost wax method were always immaculately chased and patinated, and were especially popular in England and Scotland.
