Description

An antique 19th century Russian silver snuff box decorated with engraved motifs and niello checkered design on both sides. Gold washed interior. Marked inside with an assay mark A.P under the date 1889, an 84 silver standard, George the Victorious for Moscow, and bears an illegible makers mark. The niello technique, known for its intricate engraved designs filled with contrasting black enamel, showcases the skill of Russian silversmiths.
