An Indian brass-lined papier mache beggars bowl, also named Kashkul, a vessel used by Sufi dervishes to collect and store alms. Late British Raj era, before 1947. Boat-shaped piece with figurative side handles. Elaborate hand-painted gilded floral ornament. Cobalt blue and dark green accents. Marked Hand Made in Kashmir, A-43, D-51, India. Oriental Decor, Metalwork, Islamic Religious Items.
