An antique Russian Orthodox hand-painted icon depicting the Beheading of St. John the Baptist. The scene portrays St. John being led from his prison by a soldier on the left, holding an open scroll, while on the right, his body leans forward with hands tied before him, accompanied by a soldier raising a sword.
