Description

An antique Indian Kalamkari lined cotton textile wall hanging. The textile is adorned with hand painted traditional polychrome floral, foliage, and paisley patterns on the red ground. The backside is decorated with floral and geometrical ornaments on the green ground. The ware is adorned with fringes to the edges. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. Kalamkari or chitsazi is the Iranian art of applying designs to fabric; carried out both manually and using special printing stamps.
