Description

An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon representing St. Demetrius of Thessaloniki, flanked by St. Anthony of Rome and St. Irene of Athens, being blessed by Jesus Christ from heaven. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board with gilding. Each saint is named in Church Slavonic. Provenance: Sothebys Parke-Bernet, Sale 4322, lot 460, December 11, 1979. Russian Christian Religious Items and Collectibles.

12 1/4 x 10 5/8 in. All measurements are approximate.

Condition
Overall good vintage condition. Signs of wear and age. Has scuffs and stains. Has chips and cracks in paint and wood. Refer to photos. Sold as is.
