Charles Ethan Porter, American, 1847 to 1923, an antique oil painting on board depicting a still life composition with roses. Signed lower right. Framed. Charles Ethan Porter was a painter who specialized in still life painting. A student at the National Academy of Design in New York City, he was one of the first African Americans to exhibit there.
