Hans Bischoffshausen was born in 1927, in Feld am See Karnten, Austria. An encounter with the work of Lucio Fontana, the great Italian champion, led Hans to an artistic turn. Prior to their meeting, Hans Bischoffshausens work was dark and a material slaughter in asphalt, ashes, varnish and tin. After, it was bright, often white and yet unfathomable.
