This award was established by Adolf Hitler in October 1939 as a successor to the noncombatant Iron Cross, which was used in earlier wars. Second is the Army Anti Partisan Warfare Badge. Features a relief design representing six snakes coiled around a sword blade, symbolizing the suppression of enemy forces. At the base of the sword is a skull.
